Food waste is an issue that I believe can be prevented by encouraging shoppers to try shopping smarter, and together as a community. This could potentially help in reducing the amount of food wasted each year by instead donating to a local food bank such as to The Trussell Trust.
I have designed an app which will allow a community of shoppers to scan, share and donate items through their smartphone device to the local food banks. This would be achieved by encouraging them to purchase "one free" offered products within expiration dates and then shared with other users to reduce the food wasted each day.
